Cold front brings chilly New Year’s Eve to South Florida

South Florida is heading into New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day under chilly conditions after a cold front pushed through the region Tuesday morning, setting the stage for some of the coldest temperatures of the season.

Temperatures dipped to 66 degrees early Tuesday, but that mild start will be short-lived.

The NEXT Weather team expects readings to fall steadily through the evening, dropping into the 50s before midnight, with the coldest wind chills arriving overnight and into early Wednesday. Inland areas could feel like the upper 30s, with overnight lows around 50 degrees.
