Victim of alleged Sacramento hate crime dies from injuries

(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Police Department announced that Alvin Prasad, the victim of an incident suspected of being a hate crime, died from his injuries on Sunday.

Sacramento police said officers responded to reports of an assault around 1:30 a.m. on November 1 in the 2000 block of K Street in the Lavender Heights neighborhood. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male victim with blunt-force trauma injuries.

SPD said that officers provided emergency medical aid to the victim until fire personnel arrived on scene.

SPD said officers arrested Sean Payton, 24, of Sacramento, on charges related to assault, hate crimes and resisting arrest. He was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail and is ineligible for bail…
