Center City becomes major donor for first responders memorial

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The board of directors of Center City of Amarillo voted to approve a Center City Façade Grant of $20,000 to the Texas Panhandle First Responders Memorial.

According to officials with Center City, the board also approved an additional $50,000 from the Center City Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone to go towards the memorial.

“The Center City board is fully supportive of all of our first responders. We have greatpartnerships with the Amarillo Police Department, the Potter County Sheriff’s Department, theAmarillo Fire Department and other first responders,” says Beth Duke, executive director ofCenter City. “In addition, Center City is excited that the memorial will be on the groundsadjacent to our offices in the historic Mary E. Bivins Library at 1000 S. Polk St. The memorialwill be a place of reverence and honor for our First Responders.”
