Former OU teaching assistant appeals discrimination allegations on grading decision

NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — A former University of Oklahoma graduate teaching assistant submitted her appeal of the University’s Institutional Equity Office, which found her grading “arbitrary,” on Tuesday, after a student received a failing grade on their essay.

The student, Samantha Fulnecky, filed a complaint with the university claiming religious discrimination after the Bible was mentioned in the turned-in assignment.

The paper was assigned on gender roles in society, and Fulnecky included her religious beliefs.
