Same Mid-City camera records same crime, same spot, 2 years later

According to police, the car burglary happened around 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, in the 700 block of South Solomon Street. One of the city’s crime cameras recorded much of what happened. In the video, a white car that police describe as a Hyundai Elantra pulls up next to a Ram pickup truck. Then two people from inside the car smashed one of the truck’s windows and stole a Citizen watch.

The crime happened at the same spot as another car burglary in October of 2023. In fact, it was recorded by the same crime camera, and in both cases, the thieves targeted Ram trucks. According to the NOPD, in the 2023 case, one of the thieves was seen carrying a gun.
