Man accused of deadly stabbing at Albuquerque bus stop remains behind bars

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man accused of stabbing a person to death at an ART bus stop this month will remain behind bars awaiting trial.

Bernest Benjamin, 56, was arrested following the deadly stabbing at the bus stop near Central and Louisiana on Dec. 16. Benjamin was seen on surveillance video boarding the bus before following the victim off of it, according to police.

At one point, police said Benjamin lunged at the victim, and the victim fell to the ground. Benjamin was then seen standing over the man, and police believe Benjamin stabbed him in the chest, killing him, before taking off. Police arrested Benjamin a couple of blocks away…
