Firefighters battle massive Sweet Home blaze; 45,000 gallons of water needed to extinguish

SWEET HOME, Ore. – Firefighters worked tirelessly to battle a structure fire that erupted early Saturday morning, consuming a residential home, three cars, and a tractor, according to the Sweet Home Fire District.

Fire district officials said the blaze, which began on Old Hufford Road, was first spotted by a nearby resident at 4:22 a.m. on Dec. 27. A total of 24 firefighters from three different companies responded to the scene. Crews faced challenges in securing enough water due to the property’s size and remote location. They had to shuttle more than 45,000 gallons of water to the site. Assistance came from the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office, as well as Lebanon and Brownsville Rural Fire Districts, helping to extinguish the flames by 12:26 p.m…
