MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — What began as a report of a vehicle traveling aggressively and crossing into oncoming lanes on a busy Sunday afternoon escalated into a series of criminal charges after deputies say the driver appeared impaired, was allegedly in possession of suspected drug paraphernalia, and later became combative with detention staff. The incident left a 48-year-old Accokeek woman facing multiple charges, including second-degree assault on a Department of Corrections employee, according to authorities.
According to court records, Buffy J. Monoplli, 48, of Accokeek, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) not cannabis, two counts of possession of CDS paraphernalia and second-degree assault of a Department of Corrections employee. Court records indicate Monoplli posted a $1,000 bond on Dec. 22, 2025. The charges stem from multiple traffic violations reported the previous day.
