Rhode Island safety officials urge sober driving ahead of New Year’s Eve

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association, Rhode Island Department of Transportation, and other safety officials gathered on Tuesday to discuss the dangers of impaired driving ahead of New Year’s Eve.

During the joint press conference, safety officials reminded residents to plan ahead for a safe ride home, and to drink responsibly.

“Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs puts everyone on the road at risk,” AAA Northeast Director of Public Relations Jillian Young said.” Make a plan before celebrations begin, whether that’s designating a sober driver or taking a rideshare service or taxi, and help ensure everyone can celebrate the New Year’s holiday safely.”…
