‘He was a hero’: Rochester mother charged in teen son’s death after October incident

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester woman has been charged in connection with the death of her 16-year-old son following an incident that began during a family argument in October, according to Rochester Police.

Officers responded around 7 a.m. on Oct. 10 to Breck Street for a report of a male lying unconscious in the roadway, possibly after being struck by a vehicle. The victim was identified as Ca’hry Gibson, 16, who was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Investigators later determined that Ca’hry and his mother, 38-year-old Aneka Connor, had argued over his cellphone shortly before the incident. According to police, Connor left the residence and entered her vehicle. As she backed into the street, Ca’hry ran outside and jumped onto the vehicle…
