VIRGINIA, USA — A group of community health centers across Virginia is suing the state, claiming they have been underpaid for Medicaid services for nearly 25 years.
The lawsuit was filed Dec. 19 in U.S. District Court in Richmond against the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) and its director, Cheryl Roberts.
Fifteen federally qualified health centers are listed as plaintiffs, including clinics in Hampton Roads, Richmond, Southwest Virginia and the Eastern Shore. The centers say the state failed to properly reimburse them under federal Medicaid law…
