As California braces for another round of winter storms during the New Year’s holiday, Governor Gavin Newsom announced on December 30, 2025, that the state is taking action to prepare for potentially hazardous conditions, including impacts expected across Santa Barbara County foothill areas, Ventura County and other parts of the state.
Governor Newsom has directed the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to pre-position fire and rescue crews and resources in areas vulnerable to floods, mud, and debris flows, according to the statement.
