The Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum will kick off its year-long 30th anniversary celebration on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026, from 10 AM to 5 PM. The public is invited to join us at the Museum, 460 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Savannah. This is a ticketed event and Museum memberships are available to attend Anniversary events throughout the year.
The New Year’s Day event will feature special performances, including Dr. Jamal Toure depicting a Tribute to “The Many Moods of Westley Wallace Law.” At noon, The Harambee Ensemble will perform a piece titled “TRIBUTE,” with choreography by Stephanie Davis, inspired by Alvin Ailey.
This New Year’s Day anniversary event is in honor of the birthday of museum founder Westley Wallace Law (1923 -2001), the Civil Rights icon who led the protest movement in Savannah in the 1960s.
