DelDOT mulls security boost at DMVs after trooper’s death

DOVER — The Delaware Department of Transportation will consider increasing security at its Division of Motor Vehicles offices following last week’s fatal shooting of a state trooper but have no details to release yet.

“Discussions regarding additional security measures are taking place, and we will share more information when plans are finalized,” said Charles “C.R.” McLeod, DelDOT’s community relations director.

According to the Delaware State Police, on Dec. 23, 2025, Cpl./1 Matthew “Ty” Snook, 34, of Hockessin, was shot to death at a DMV building in New Castle. The alleged shooter, Rahman Rose, 44, of Wilmington, was also fatally shot at the scene, by a New Castle County officer…
