FAA investigating after 2 departing flights at Bush Airport nearly collide

HOUSTON – The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a near collision involving two departing flights at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport earlier this month.

According to the FAA, the incident happened around 3:05 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, and involved Volaris El Salvador Flight 4321, which was headed to San Salvador, and United Express Flight 4814, which was flying to Jackson, Mississippi.

In a statement, the FAA said air traffic control instructed Volaris Flight 4321 to turn left after departing Bush Intercontinental. The aircraft instead turned right, placing it on a path toward the United Express flight, which had departed from a parallel runway…
