Thompson School District adopted a two-year calendar for 2026-27 and 2027-28 that pushes back the start of those school years by a week, due to concerns about overheated classrooms in August. The Coloradoan reports the first day of school for most students in the district for the 2026-27 school year will be Aug. 20 and the first day the following year will be Aug. 19 under calendars approved Dec. 17 by the Board of Education in a unanimous vote.
