Honolulu police say a heated argument on Kaimukī Avenue turned into a gun scare Monday morning when a 36-year-old man allegedly pulled out a silver handgun, threatened a 43-year-old man and then took off on a moped. The 43-year-old man was not injured, and officers later tracked down and arrested the suspect that afternoon. The investigation is still active, according to authorities.
Police account of the incident
According to the Honolulu Police Department, officers were called to Kaimukī Avenue at about 7:45 a.m. Monday after reports of an argument between the two men. Investigators say the 36-year-old allegedly brandished a silver handgun at the 43-year-old, then fled the scene on a moped before officers arrived.
The department detailed the incident in an online bulletin and also shared it on Facebook. Police say they are following up on leads as they continue to develop the case.
Tip leads to arrest hours later
