Fire risk warning for New Year’s Eve in CSRA due to weather

AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF)- It’s New Years Eve and people across the CSRA will be celebrating with fireworks and bonfires, but weather conditions could pose a safety risk.

Tonight the CSRA will be under a lake wind advisory starting at 10 p.m. Sustained winds from 10- 20 miles per hour with wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour are expected.

That coupled with a lack of rainfall and low humidity leaves us with conditions ripe for fires. That means people celebrating with fireworks and bonfires want to be very careful…
