BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year for rideshare services, and safety experts are reminding passengers to take precautions before getting in a car with a stranger.
Joe Conkle and his wife started Backseat Drivers of Alabama in 2023 after he began driving for Uber. Conkle said while rideshares are safer compared to driving under the influence, passengers need to stay alert.
“Uber ride is cheaper than a DUI. People are going to be getting drunk and you should give up the keys and let somebody else do the driving and you should be able to trust the people that’s driving you,” Conkle said…
