Cold-weather shelters opening around the Suncoast as temperatures drop

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – With temperatures expected to drop into the low 40s Tuesday night and the low 30s in some areas Wednesday night, several cold-weather shelters will be opening to people in need around the Suncoast.

Manatee County

The Salvation Army of Manatee County will provide free shelter Tuesday, Dec. 30 and Wednesday, Dec. 31 night at its shelter at 1204 14th Street West, in Bradenton.

Shuttle service will be provided from Turning Points, the MCAT bus depot, Under One Roof, and the Palmetto Police Department, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

the shelter will have capacity for 53 people in the men’s shelter and 25 in the family shelter, the Salvation Army said.

Sarasota County

The Salvation Amy of Sarasota County will provide free cold-weather shelter Tuesday, Dec. 30 and Wednesday, Dec. 31 night at its shelter at 1400 10th St. in Sarasota…
