Key western Ky. transportation routes remain closed

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – While one of the ferries between Western Kentucky and neighboring states has re-opened heading into the new year, another one remains closed, as is a major highway between Todd and Christian counties.

The Cave-In-Rock Ferry had been closed due to high winds, but has now re-opened. It connects KY 91 with IL Route 1 across the Ohio River between Crittenden County, KY, and Hardin County, IL.

The service is operated by an independent contractor with joint funding from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Illinois Department of Transportation through a ferry authority…
