LOUISVILLE, Ky. — When Watana Rogers’ dialysis port ruptured the day after Thanksgiving, leaving a trail of blood through her home, her 7-year-old granddaughter Marley stayed calm and took lifesaving action that paramedics said made the difference between life and death.
Rogers, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney disease six years ago, was getting ready for a dialysis appointment on Nov. 28 when her port ruptured. Two of her grandchildren were home, 11-year-old Justice and 7-year-old Marley.
“I was getting dressed for dialysis, and I never even felt the arm bleeding, and it was just draining,” Rogers said. “Blood was from that door all the way back to the kitchen.”…
