An Inverness woman was arrested for theft after attempting to steal $489 in extension cords and various copper items from Home Depot.
Christine Helton, 49, went into Home Depot, located at 871 N U.S. Hwy. 27/441, around 3:20 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
While inside, she picked up two extension cords, two containers of copper pipe fittings, brass pipe fittings, a container of copper refrigeration tubing and a bottle of Oxyclean. She put all of these items, worth a total of $489.12, into a shopping cart and approached a garden center register with them, the report said.
Loss prevention watched as Helton paid for only a bottle of Smart water before passing all points of sale. She was then stopped by an officer who discovered she had two outstanding warrants for theft out of Hernando County, the report said…
