Police stationed outside Staten Island church after it was defaced with feces

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A police presence has been assigned to St. Sylvester’s R.C. church in Concord through the holidays after the church was defaced with feces during Mass on Christmas morning.

The deployment of police to the site was confirmed by both the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office and Councilmember David Carr.

A spokesperson for the district attorney’s office told the Advance/SILive.com that while the matter was still under investigation, the office worked with police to ensure a law enforcement presence at the church through the holiday season…
