Wall Street Journal Ranks Savannah State #1 HBCU in Georgia

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -Savannah State University has been recognized by the Wall Street Journal College Pulse Index as the top HBCU in Georgia for student experience and best value, ranking ahead of ten other historically Black institutions in the state.

Founded in 1890 as Georgia’s oldest public HBCU, SSU also placed 18th nationally for student experience and ranked within the Top 500 universities overall in the Wall Street Journal’s 2025/2026 results.
