On June 28 last year, a man arranged to buy a Yamaha motorcycle from a Facebook account using the name “Larry West” and agreed to complete the transaction in the 6700 block of South Indiana Avenue, according to court records and a police report. CPD had issued public warnings about similar robberies happening on the same block and elsewhere in Park Manor.
The buyer and two companions arrived at the address expecting to meet the seller. Instead, they were approached by a young boy who claimed to be West’s son, according to a report from the Chicago Police Department. The boy led the three men behind a house, telling them the motorcycle was in the backyard.
Once in the yard, three men confronted the group, including 19-year-old Calvin Savage, prosecutors said. Savage allegedly pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded their property. Authorities said he took a wallet containing $2,500 in cash that one victim brought to purchase the motorcycle.
The group then attempted to take money from a second victim, but that man had left his wallet inside a vehicle, prosecutors said. The boy who had led the victims into the yard allegedly poked the third victim with a knife and took about $230 from his pockets…
