Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center marks record year of animal rescues

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – As the new year begins, Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is looking back on its busiest year on record.

In 2025, the center cared for 3,457 animals — the most it has ever treated in a single year.

Stephanie Brady, executive director of WWWRC, provided a list of the animals most frequently treated:

  • Opossum: 551
  • Cottontail rabbit: 420
  • Mourning/White winged dove: 207
  • Raccoon 126
  • Squirrel: 122
  • Mississippi Kite: 113
