Former Madison County Treasurer now charged with 3 felonies, trial set for May 2026

WINTERSET, Iowa — Amanda DeVos, the former treasurer for Madison County has now been charged with two additional felonies, according to court documents.

DeVos was arrested in January 2025 and charged with the following:

  • Tampering with Records (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
  • Felonious Misconduct in Office (Class D Felony)
  • Theft in the Third Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
  • Fraudulent Practices in the Third Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor)

These charges are in connection to an anonymous report on Nov. 21, 2024, that DeVos had altered records to show she had paid for her vehicle registration plates in October 2024. A signed affidavit states DeVos admitted to the official to “making false government records,” and that DeVos admitted to another individual at the Treasurer Office she altered the records.

According to an Amended Trial Information document, dated Dec. 22, 2025, DeVos has been charged with two additional felonies: an additional Felonious Misconduct in Office and Fraudulent Practices in the Second Degree…
