ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) is reporting a decrease in murders throughout the city of St. Louis this year.
According to SLMPD, for 2025, the city has (so far) reported 139 homicides. The department calls 2025’s numbers “historic,” especially in recent years:

- 2017 – 205 homicides
- 2018 – 187 homicides

- 2021 – 203 homicides
- 2022 – 201 homicides
- 2023 – 160 homicides
- 2024 – 151 homicides
