Scottsdale Man Faces Charges After Standoff and Alleged Shooting at Police Officers

A standoff in Scottsdale came to a close this past weekend after a man who reportedly fired at police officers surrendered peacefully. The incident, which occurred in the vicinity of Cheery Lynn Road and 68th Street, began after neighbors reported gunshots emanating from a residence around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, as detailed by azfamily.

The suspect, identified by Scottsdale Police as 27-year-old Vaughan Hanson, fired from his home, striking two unoccupied patrol vehicles. Several homes were evacuated, and a large police presence contained the situation. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, no injuries were reported, and no officers discharged their weapons.

The standoff concluded after negotiators were able to coax Hanson out of his residence just after 2:30 p.m. FOX 10 Phoenix noted that the peaceful resolution came without additional incident.
