Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith released information Tuesday morning on a raid at an encampment on York Mountain Road in Empire. Neighbors had complained for months about the growing campsite with up to thirty people living on the property. The group leader called it a ministry.
The sheriff explained his investigators had to track down the out of state property owner in Arkansas which took some time to make sure the people did not have permission to live there. Once that was complete, his office was able to get a search warrant and order the people off the property.
