H&H Bagels, a popular chain of restaurants based out of New York, has completed construction at its Chapel Hill location at University Place and is planning a mid-January grand opening.
After an early December target date was missed, the business’ website and listing on Google Maps indicates the breakfast restaurant aims to open on Thursday, Jan. 15. Axios originally reported on H&H’s announcement of a Chapel Hill location at 239 S. Estes Dr., Suite 101 in August.
The restaurant features both an indoor dining area and an outdoor patio. Customers can order individual bagels, sandwiches, and bagels by the dozen, as well as coffee. Most of the chain’s locations are in its hometown of New York City, as well as southern California and Florida. The Chapel Hill location will be H&H Bagels’ first in North Carolina, with the News & Observer reporting the restaurant plans to open four other franchises in the state.
H&H Bagels is located alongside other new University Place businesses on the east end of the property, where part of the mall building was demolished in March 2023 to make way for more storefronts.
