Malfunctioning fireworks cause fire at pole barn in Portage, officials say

PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — Firefighters were called to a fire at a pole barn Wednesday afternoon after fireworks malfunctioned inside, the Portage Department of Public Safety said.

It happened around 2 p.m. on Holiday Lane near Greenbriar Drive in Portage. Crews responded to find heavy smoke coming from the pole barn. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames.
