Rochester Regional Health reinstates mandatory masking due to sharp rise in flu cases

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Regional Health has reinstated universal masking due to an increase in flu cases and other respiratory illnesses on Tuesday.

Officials said the rise in these illnesses has led to more hospitalizations and staff sickness. Masks are now required for patients, visitors, and all staff at any Rochester Regional Health facility.

“The facts are that right now in Rochester, we have an immense amount of cold and flu. We at Rochester Regional. We study how many people we admit to the hospital with cold and flu each week.
