ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a convicted felon after the discovery of a ghost gun at a residence in Pittsford.
Deputies report that on Dec. 9, MCSO was called to the home for a welfare check on 54-year-old Cameron S. Sanderson. Upon deputies’ arrival, Sanderson was allegedly found inside the home inhaling a substance described as “duster.” He was detained by police to ensure his safety before receiving treatment from EMS on the scene.
According to MCSO, a single round of live ammunition was seen on the floor by deputies during the investigation. Known to police as a convicted felon with two felonies and 16 misdemeanor convictions, this discovery prompted a search warrant, as it is illegal for Sanderson to possess any firearms or ammunition.
While executing the warrant, investigators are said to have found a Polymer 80 semi-automatic handgun with an attached magazine loaded with six rounds of 9mm ammunition within a hidden compartment in a bedroom. Several magazines and additional ammunition were also recovered from the home…
