Ohio CPA requirements are shifting. Here’s the breakdown.

OHIO, USA — Starting Jan. 1, Ohio will lower the education requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant, a move aimed at addressing a statewide shortage of CPAs.

Ohio House Bill 238 reduces the required college credit hours from 150 to 120 for candidates who complete two years of work experience. Alternatively, applicants can qualify with a master’s degree and one year of experience. The CPA exam remains mandatory, according to the Accountancy Board of Ohio.
