2025—I cannot believe 2026 is about to be even busier. Elections are looming, and the ball hasn’t dropped. My sights are already set on the primaries and the political fiascos that will usher in the new year, but I’m still making sense of all that happened this year.

President Donald Trump assumed his spot in the Oval Office—again—with clear reverberations of the leadership shift felt throughout the Lone Star State. More locally, infighting broke out across both Republican and Democratic circles. We lost leaders, RIP Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and former Houston mayor Sylvester Turner, and watched as new ones’ administrations unfolded, hat tip to you, Mayor John Whitmire.
