A child was injured just after midnight Thursday when nearby windows shattered during the fireworks show at the Idaho Potato Drop in downtown Boise, police said.
Boise Fire and Ada County Paramedics responded to West Bannock Street, where officers say glass from the broken windows struck the child. She was taken to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital with injuries police described as non-life-threatening.

According to a GoFundMe page created by the child’s aunt, the child, identified as Isabella, underwent about three hours of surgery after being struck in the face by the glass. The fundraiser says a specialist was needed to perform a skin graft, adding that Isabella will require ongoing medical care, therapy and follow-up appointments.
The fundraiser says the family is facing mounting medical bills, time away from work to provide care and other recovery-related expenses as they focus on her recovery.
