HONOLULU (KHON2) — State officials are alerting residents to be on the lookout for scammers impersonating Hawaiʻi officials online.
The scam is known as “phishing,” which is when bad actors impersonate others online, even going as far as opening fake websites and email addresses.
Posing as government officials and departments, the scammers can trick the public into giving them sensitive information such as bank logins or other critical credentials.
