CMPD: Two arrests, no major incidents during Uptown NYE celebrations

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say no major incidents happened during New Year’s Eve celebrations at Romare Bearden Park and Truist Field this year.

CMPD says officers did, however, make two arrests. A 14-year-old juvenile was arrested and charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

Mikhi Jackson, 18, was also arrested and is charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Officers seized weapons from both teen suspects.

This comes two years after a mass shooting at Romare Bearden Park injured five people during Uptown NYE celebrations. All five victims had non-life-threatening injuries. Then-19-year-old Daevion Crawford was arrested for the shooting and was later sentenced to 20 to 36 months in prison after pleading guilty…
