Events planned across Knoxville for King Week 2026

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville is planning several events to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This year, the federal holiday falls on Jan. 19, which is four days after Martin Luther King Jr.’s actual birthday. Nationally, it is celebrated on the third Monday of January every year.

The MLK Commemorative Commission in Knoxville organized several events for King Week 2026 starting on Jan. 2 and lasting up until MLK Day on Jan. 19, when it will host a memorial tribute service.
