One dead after overnight New Year’s shooting in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One person is dead after the Knoxville Police Department found a gunshot victim minutes after midnight on New Year’s Day.

Officers responded to the 2000 block of Neyland Drive where 60-year-old Barry Evans of Knoxville was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead after arriving at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

A vehicle of interest was identified and located at a gas station on E. Summit Hill Drive. Two occupants were detained and questioned by homicide investigators…
