Heart-stopping moment man and child pulled from Jeep swept away by San Diego floodwaters

A New Year’s rainstorm in Southern California trapped a man and his young daughter inside a vehicle in San Diego’s Fashion Valley area, forcing emergency crews to rescue them as it began to submerge beneath fast-moving water.

Harrowing footage of the incident showed a swiftwater rescue team aboard an inflatable raft pulling the child out of the stranded Jeep before returning for the man, who was also safely extracted through one of the car’s windows.

“Our swiftwater rescue teams are actively working to rescue individuals stuck in their cars along Fashion Valley Rd & Riverwalk Dr.,” the San Diego Fire Department said in a statement on social media around 10 a.m. “Stay safe, SD. Please avoid the area & never walk or drive through floodwaters.”…
