CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – New regulations in Massachusetts are set to take effect in 2026, impacting cannabis use, gun safety, salary transparency, education requirements and boating education.
These legislative changes come as lawmakers aim to address various community needs and public safety issues. Rep. Bud Williams stated that the 2026 legislation could have significant impacts on the communities in Western Massachusetts.
Starting in 2026, new regulations will allow for social cannabis consumption in Massachusetts, meaning that existing dispensaries or other spaces can provide areas for events like festivals and concerts. Rep. Williams emphasized, “The Cannabis Control Commission unanimously approved final regulations for social cannabis use in Massachusetts. In order for that to take effect, there has to be a local referendum by the city or town; they can do an ordinance or bylaws.”…
