Lubbock’s UMC, Covenant hospitals announce first babies born in 2026

University Medical Center in Lubbock announced its first baby of 2026 was a boy born in the early morning hours Thursday, Jan. 1, with the first baby at Covenant Children’s arriving shortly after.

UMC Health System shared a post on social media announcing baby Nolan Christopher Kauenhofen was born at 1:03 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 15 ounces. He was welcomed by his mom, Nellie Kauenhofen, and dad, Liam Kauenhofen, according to a statement from UMC.

Other information about Nolan and his family was not immediately available.
