Lubbock’s ‘New Year Old Me’ Comedy Night At Jake’s Backroom

If you’ve ever made a New Year’s resolution with pure intentions and then immediately ruined it by January 3rd, congratulations! There’s a comedy show made specifically for you…

New Year, Old Me is hitting Jake’s Backroom in Lubbock on Friday, January 2nd, and it’s all about that weird, emotional, hopeful, slightly unhinged space we all live in at the start of a new year. You know, when you’re promising personal growth to your boss and family, and quietly brushing last year’s donut crumbs off your lap.

The show dives into New Year’s resolutions, changing (or refusing to), losing and finding relationships, and of course, the spectacular ways we fail at becoming “new” versions of ourselves. It’s honest, self-aware, and funny in the way real life tends to be when you stop pretending you have it all together.

Hosting the night is Curtis Hinds, keeping things moving and warmed up, with Chris Crawford taking the stage for a full comedy set before headliner Chrissy Covington closes out the night. Expect sharp observations, relatable chaos, and the comforting reminder that nobody actually has their life figured out, ESPECIALLY if their Instagram says otherwise.

But this night isn’t just about comedy! The event will also feature some totally rad local vendors selling handmade, artsy, fun stuff! The kind of things you didn’t know you needed until you saw them. It’s a perfect excuse to support local small businesses, grab something cool, and still get home laughing.

Whether you resolve to laugh more, get out of the house, or stop pretending this year is going to be totally different, New Year, Old Me is the perfect way to kick off 2026 on the best foot! The honest, loud, and slightly tipsy one……
