Springfield hospitals welcome first newborns of 2026

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Springfield’s Mercy Hospital and CoxHealth announced the first newborns to be born in 2026.

At Mercy Hospital, De’Andre Murry and Harper Warner were welcomed by staff with newborn gift baskets to welcome them in the new year, according to a press release.

De’Andre was born around 12:42 a.m. on Jan. 1, weighing five pounds and 15 ounces, with parents Jazlynn Goings and Javarus Murry excited to welcome their son to the world.

The first girl, Harper, was born with an original due date on Christmas to parents Carina and Mikal Warner. The release indicates that the parents were surprised that the baby made her entrance to the new year.
