LAYTON, Utah (KUTV) — A Utah woman is facing a felony child abuse charge after police said she prevented her teenage son from receiving lifesaving medical care during a diabetic emergency.
According to court documents, 33-year-old Mariana Franciele De Lima was arrested after first responders were called to an apartment in Layton on December 21 for reports of a medical emergency involving her 14-year-old son.
Police said the teen was in severe distress when officers and paramedics arrived after crawling to a neighbor’s unit while throwing up.
