New Latin American grocery store coming soon to Arizona. Here’s when

Vallarta Supermarkets, a California-based Latino grocery chain, will host a grand opening celebration Jan. 14 at its new Glendale location. The first 300 customers will receive bags filled with groceries.

Based in Santa Clarita, California, the chain began in 1985 as a family-run carnicería and has since expanded to over 60 stores in California. The Glendale store, which is opening at Grandview Plaza at the intersection of 59th Avenue and Camelback Road, is Vallarta’s first location outside of the state.

“This is more than just a store opening, it’s the next chapter in Vallarta’s story,” Lizette Gomez, Vallarta’s marketing director, said in a news release…
