A variety of winter precipitation types inundate the Inland Northwest into Friday morning

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for much of the Inland Northwest with slick road conditions raising the biggest concern. The method for getting to those slick road conditions will be varied.

Active weather returned in the way of snow to areas like Spokane to start the new year, but a transition to freezing rain is expected into the early morning hours of Friday. A transition to non-freezing rain will continue later into the day.

Communities farther south including the Palouse and the LC Valley will likely just stick with rain or a weak wintry mix with surface temperatures holding at or just above freezing…
